Meet the Practitioner

Manuela received her license as a naturopath in Germany in 1995 and specialized in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. She ran her clinic for five years before a unique job offer in Hawaii prompted her to come to the States in 2001. At the same time, she got married and later settled down with her new family in Salem in 2006. After a diagnosis of cancer, Manuela had to reevaluate the focus of her life and decided to go back to school since her naturopathic license was not recognized here. In 2013 she graduated with a Masters in acupuncture and in 2015 with her Doctor in Chinese Medicine at OCOM in Portland, Oregon. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the State of Oregon and a board-certified herbalist.

Manuela says:”It has always been important to me that patients feel empowered by the healthcare they are receiving. The practitioner is the advocate for the patient, facilitating the journey to heal in a more holistic and complete way. Acupuncture nudges the self-healing power and generates balance. Healing is not just about symptom removal but to find the root of the disorder. It is a path where we re-discover what we need to live a balanced life. Patients are invited to participate in their healing process. In the end it is you who makes the change!

Although most patients come in for pain conditions Manuela is passionate about emotional and mental health promoting that acupuncture can be an useful tool to make a difference. She has seen many cases of depression, anxiety, PTSD and other imbalances improving drastically after acupuncture treatments. The other main focus is children who suffer of elimination disorders that are also related to behavioral and emotional problems. Children are very receptive and it doesn’t take a lot of intervention to help them.

Manuela participates in the Veteran’s Relief Project, a non-profit organization located in Portland which helps veterans to find adequate health care. All affiliated practitioners do pro bono work and get not compensated. It is a great way to assist returning veterans who are often send away by the VA health system because of exhausted medical intervention possibilities.
